SUMMIT KIDS
At Summit, we love kids and just as it is our mission as a church to see every adult connect to Jesus, Others, and the World, we plan on doing the same thing with our children! We use great interactive programs that kids love.
Climbers (Birth to Pre-k)
We know how important these years are and how crucial the care is. We make sure these little ones have a great time and are in great hands so that you can enjoy the service.
Our curriculum uses several key strategies:
- Teach less for more: repeat one key truth all month long.
- Engage the 5 senses: Helps master the concept through creative activities.
- Help a child by age five believe:
1. God made me.
2. God loves me.
3. Jesus wants to be my friend forever. - Experience worship: encourage children to talk to God anytime, any place.
- Connect at home: provide parents with ideas for conversation with their child at home.
Camp Rock (K-5th)
Kids are challenged every Sunday at Camp Rock to trust God, make wise decisions, and build lasting friendships. Camp Rock is designed specifically for kids from Kindergarten through 5th grade. Here’s what it looks like:
Welcome
Children are greeted at Camp Rock by their coach and small group leader. Kids participate with their small group in an activity meant to introduce the one TRUTH, or bottom line, we want them to walk away with and remember that day.
Large Group Environment
Shortly after arriving, kids gather as a large group environment, where they hear a Bible story. We use costumes, props and characters from the story – anything that helps the Bible come to life. There is time for kids to sing as loud as they want and tell God how much they love Him.
Small Group Environment
After participating in worship, kids travel back to their small groups where leaders help them understand how the day’s bottom line can fit into their everyday life. Small group leaders at Camp Rock are serious about having fun and are passionate about teaching the TRUTH. We want kids to see how God’s word fits into their lives, to learn how to talk to Him, and to build friendships that will last.
Every Sunday, they will connect with the same small group of kids. The connections they make give them a chance to establish relationships that will matter when they need it most.
Curriculum
We use 252 Basics, a curriculum designed for 1st through 5th graders. Named for the verse Luke 2:52closeLuke 2:52
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man. (ESV)
(“And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men”), the curriculum is built around Three Basic Truths:
1. Wisdom: I need to make the wise choice;
2. Faith: I can trust God no matter what; and
3. Friendship: I should treat others the way I want to be treated.
The Three Basic Truths are amplified through 36 unique monthly virtues (such as kindness, generosity and faith) and 150 Bible stories. Every week there is a key TRUTH, or bottom line, that we drive home. It’s the ONE thing we want kids to understand and grab onto during their time at Camp Rock.
